Family Life
William appears to be listed on both the 1820/1830 censuses,

With the data we have gathered, records state they moved from Shelby County, it leads to this census, ... tells me that the head of the house
John Peyton Taylor born: 1768-and in 1830 Grampa John would have been 62--
SO, either the census taker made a mistake on COLUMNS AGE and should have checked 60-70. OR he lied...OR there are more than 1 John P. Taylor in Ohio County, Kentucky...
CHILDREN would be: age: 5-10=William F. age:9/age: 15-20=John P. JR. age:16
white females,1= age:15-20=Jane age: 19
White females, 1=age:40-60=1 Mother, Mary C.
(and next door to them is
HEAD OF HOUSE Joseph Midkiff/
next to them another Joseph Midkiff. (His daughter, and her husband) [1]
His son from first wife, Cassander, Jonathan born:1821 age:9
Their first son Samuel Littlegrove born:1827 age:3
Their daughter, Cassander born:1829 age:1
NOTE: Only one son UNDER 5 years old... SO William F. born:1821 IS not Thomas's son but baby brother.....Even if he was born 1828, IS NOT there either...
Family Marriages
And to look at our theory here is another bit of evidence:
Kentucky Marriages, 1785-1979
NAME: Thomas L. TAYLOR
SPOUSE: Sally McCrocklin
DATE: 12 October 1826
PLACE: Ohio County, Kentucky
And Thomas's first wife Cassandra is known to have had only 2 sons, one died in infancy. And the other was a preacher like his father.
Kentucky marriages, 1785-1979
"Ohio County, This is to certify that the rites of
matrimony were solomnized between William F. Taylor
and Miss Elizabeth Jane Pate by me on the 27th
day of August 1846 Given under my hand"
Joseph P. Ellis __. H. B. C.
The Marriage certificate of William F. Taylor and Elizabeth Jane Pate and another document "marriage contract" is 'signed by her father William Pate. but not this register record. [3]
11-28-1844 --Ohio Co., KY Deed Book # 1, page 389
It is also known that soon after he came of age, John Peyton Taylor deeded to William F. Taylor 82 1/2 acres of land for the sum of $1.00 on 28 Nov. 1844;
5-31-1850 --Ohio Co. KY Circuit Court (Suit # 1077
"William F. Taylor gave testimony on 31 May 1850 in Ohio County Kentucky Circuit Court involving the sale of the slaves of the late John Peyton Taylor. He said, "That he is now 28 or 29 years of age, that he was raised by John P. Taylor and always resided in his family until about two years before his death, and during that time he lived within about a mile of his house." [4]
1850 Dist.#2 OHIO County, Kentucky
Asst. Marshal H.D. Taylor is the official who took the census Sept. 9, 1850
(right next door, house #459, to them was, John P.TAYLOR age:36 VA (1814) /Susanna and 6 kids.)
THIS John Peyton TAYLOR was in fact the (2nd) youngest son of John Peyton Taylor SR. or the John Peyton that William F. lived most of his life. I wondered why he would live with a grandfather instead of a father...
Well, Thomas Littlegrove was a Preacher. And he had an older son from his first wife, Cassandra. Maybe Wm. F did not get along with them?
NEW THEORY: John Peyton was William F.'s father not his grandfather. So that would make the John Peyton that was living next door his brother not his uncle. [6]
1860 "Minor Civil Division: Ellis District, Ohio County, Kentucky--
Camp Douglas became known as "Andersonville of the North" it had a 17-23% death rate. [8]
So Grandfather William did make it home from being a POW-first at Camp Douglas, Chicago, Illinois. "Hell Hole" and then transferred to Pt. Lookout Maryland, Feb. 13, 1865.
First captured July 26, 1863 at Salineville, Ohio-
So for 1 yr/7 months prisoner there and then to be Exchanged at Pt. Lookout.

WE, Linda Baird and I have decided, after review of all the data: the 1820/1830/1850/60/70 census records, the
"Suit" DATED May 31, 1850- Wm. F. says, "he was raised by John Peyton Taylor and always resided in his house until about 2 years before his death." And further stated, "he was 28 or 29 years old." May 1850 -29 years-1821...
AND, 27 August 1846 William F. married Eliza Jane Pate, in Ohio County.
Then in 1847 John Peyton died.
All the data says his year of birth would be 1821.
So this tells us that his father was John Peyton Taylor and not Thomas Littlegrove and that his mother was Mary C. Davis. Mary would have been 49 years old when he was born. (UNLESS of course- THERE WAS ANOTHER WOMAN in John Peyton's life)
Our family tree line comes originally from the rootsweb.com tree of JOE TAYLOR- Joe gives William a birth year of 1828 Ohio Co. KY.
But all the names MY William F Taylor/Elizabeth Pate-Taylor named their kids are too coincidental....
The reasons I believe this is the correct father to my g-grandfather are:
several family trees list a son
William H. and dob: Jan 1852 KY---my William H is dob: 1854 KY, this from a census.
It also says "Head of family- parents born KY" --and my William H has 2 daughters named Mary (Mollie) and one Sallie which are the names of the sisters on the William H, son of William F/Elizabeth Pate.
Also they named their sons John Peyton-Squire L-Samuel ---just like his brothers. There are too many coincidences...(I know don't see this???)
Except the date of birth is either 1821 OR 1828 depends on what family tree you are reading, hard to tell but I believe I have made a strong case to prove MY William H. as the son of William F. TAYLOR.
newly updated data Aug. 10, 2014 because of f-a-g creator 47003700
Thank you, the death date I had was May 21, 1890 and was informed this is not right! :::Note: his father, mother, brother, and son are buried in New Bells Run

GARY (familysearch.org messages)
I'm old but relatively new to genealogy only a couple years (retired).
William F,Squire, Elizabeth Pate are all buried within a 10-15 mile radius of me.
The Owensboro genealogy is a pretty big place and has there own department.
I was confused when I saw your info about him being in Oklahoma with Visa when none of it matched up with my work?
So I went to the Ohio County Genealogy and looked at there records and books.
I was then sent to the Owensboro genealogy department where they assured me of my findings and the Taylor in Oklahoma and another in West Virginia were not accurate. :Family Search, Roots Web, Ancestry Ive used those three.
I have also spent time in the Court Houses in the record department in 4 county's.
Joe Taylor that did the Roots Web was from here but was actually in California. He was handicapped and stayed home most of the time.
The local Historian Helen Mckeown did most of his work for him and lives 3-4 miles from me and we talked often.
I haven't done much research in awhile. I just wanted to find out more about Greats and GGreats.
My middle name is Taylor my moms maiden name.
I grew up with many that was only a 5 minute walk from my house.
Im sorry if I have caused confusion. I have actually turned over all my work to my daughter and moved on. I have 2 historians in my intimidate family and thats enough.
November 2020 I emailed a request to the Owensboro genealogy department telling them of the note received and if they could let me know what I need to do to get the same copies of the information. Without copies of the SOURCES our DATA is better than what he was informed about.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with William by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with William:
