Biography

Thomas Taylor was born at Albrighton in Shropshire, the son of Joseph Taylor and his wife, Elizabeth Herbert and was baptised on the 6th of June 1802. ^[1] He became a shoemaker probably by apprenticeship else he would not have been allowed to work.

Thomas married Elizabeth Palmer in Albrighton on the 21st of December 1827 ^[2] She bore him at least four children then died before the 1841 census was taken ^[3] and by 1851 Thomas had only two of his children still at home. ^[4]

Sometime thereafter Thomas moved to Birmingham and married widowed Susannah Hawkeswood. The clerk did not see fit to fill in any of the parents of bride or groom for marriages at this time. ^[5] Susannah had two almost grown sons, Frederick and Edwin. ^[6] By 1871 the couple had no children at home. ^[7]

Thomas died in 1876 ^[8]
