Biography

Phineas Taylor[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9] was born on October 24, 1820[1] in Nova Scotia[1].

His parents were Bennett Taylor [1] and Eleanor Morton. [1]

He married Sarah Joyce[1][2][3][4][6][7] [10]

Together they had 7 children:

  1. William Taylor [6] b. 1850[6][7] d. 28 Feb 1919 [6] m. Jane Scott[7]
  2. Mary Taylor [2] b. 1850 [2] m. Edward Gould [2]
  3. Eleanor Taylor [3] b. 1852[3] m. James E. Chandley [3]
  4. Alveretta Taylor [4] b. 1854[4] m. Henry Smith [4]
  5. Catherine Taylor [10] b. 1855[10]
  6. Thomas Taylor[10] b. 1857[10]
  7. Susan Taylor[10] [11].b. 1860[10][11] m. John Jeffers[11]

A family story is that Phineas left his family in Nova Scotia to head out west to work. Many years had passed without word from him. His son Thomas set out to search for him and was never heard from again by the family. The 1871 census has wife Sarah as head of household with a note to the side stating that "husband left home ten years agow (sic) hasn't returned" [10]. In the 1881 census, Sarah is listed as widowed. [11]

In the 1880 US census, a Phineas Taylor [12] [13] appears in Kansas. He is a man of the same age and also born in Nova Scotia. It is believed that this the same Phineas Taylor. He is married to Melissa Hawkins [12][13][9] and has a son also named Phineas Taylor [13][12][9]

He died on June 27, 1881 in Paolo, Miami, Kansas, United States of America.[8]

Taylor-29746 and Taylor-49465 appear to represent the same person because: Believe Taylor-29746 was a duplicate of Taylor-49465 accidently added to Sarah Taylor's profile as a spouse - there is no information on 29746 that would be lost so Taylor-29746 is unnecessary.
