Biography

He was born 1841 in Cape Town. On February 15th 1882 he married Elizabeth Wilhelmina Fredrika Louw (b. March 8th 1858) .They moved to Prince Alfred Hamlet where he owned the Commercial Hotel and a transport business that operated between Wellington and Kimberly during the gold rush. During the Boer war he helped the Boers with overnight accommodation and supplies. The English seized his property and banished him from Prince Alfred Hamlet. They lived for a while in Ceres, Cape. They had eight children. He died on the September 14th 1918 in Melville Johannesburg.
