THOMAS TAYLOR (*)Taylor Family Notes[4]
Uncle Tom, the one with the beard on the far left in the family picture of l885, moved to Atlanta. In l926 he owned a private railroad car that was used by the different railroads operating out of Atlanta to check their scales. He lived on Peach Tree Blvd and/or Decatur St. Naomi Baker (VIIICl in the genealogy) has a photo of him and his son Tom Jr. Wesley, the second son, served in the Navy, sent silver bracelets to his cousins Inez and Eleanor (VIIIA,C). Naomi has his picture in uniform, which he sent to Eleanor when she was a little girl. He had lived for a time in the home of Wesley Taylor (VIII), Naomi's grandfather, whose name he bore. He was serving on the Bennington after the Spanish American War when a boiler burst. Wesley rescued several of his buddies, but was killed when another boiler burst as he was rescuing another. He is buried at Point Loma near San Diego. May bore the married surname of Flowers and lived with Tom Jr. in Atlanta in her later years. Eva traveled from Atlanta to the West Coast in l926 with Charlie Cottrell (IIIB), who noted that she was quite involved in spiritualism. George Taylor (XIIB) visited her in San Francisco shortly before he died in 1959. There is a Thomas M. Taylor III in Atlanta with an unlisted phone, but we can't get the address.
