Biography

Smith Adams Taylor was born on October 18, 1832 near Hobart, NY. He died on December 24, 1907 in Margaretville, NY. [1] He is buried in the Sanford cemetery. [2]
On June 9, 1873 Smith was appointed postmaster for the Dunraven, NY, post office.[3] Smith reportedly kept a Hotel in Clark's Factory, later known as Dunraven.[4] Around 1883, one of Smith's sons, then aged 13, was "drowned In the floom [sic] of the old Tannery pond at Clark's Factory".[5]
