Eliza went against the wishes of her family when she married Creed Taylor at age 15. At a political speech on July 30, 1855 in Clinton, TX (DeWitt Co.), William Ainsworth, brother of Eliza Ann stabbed Creed in the heart. The sheriff locked up William and chained him in his cell; during the night someone broke in and killed William.
