Fanny was born in Withernwick, York, England in 1834 and baptised on April 6th. Her father is listed as being a farmer.

Emigrated to South Australia as a child with her parents (Robert and Jane) and 5 brothers (Job, Thomas, Henry, George and William?/John?) arriving on the "D'Auvergne" from London in March 1839.

Lived in Willunga, South Australia.

Fanny married Watts Newland in 1853 at Willunga, and they had 3 children - Mary (Minnie), Ridgway William, and Rose Ada (Ada).

She died during childbirth in 1862, age 28.
