Samuel Taylor Jr. was born about 1691 in Chesterfield, Burlington, New Jersey. He was the son of Samuel Sr. and Susannah (Horsman) Taylor. Samuel is named in his father's Will.

Samuel and. Anne Foulke (aka Folkes) filed their intention to marry on October 11, 1716 (old calendar) as recorded in the Chesterfield Quaker Meeting Notes.
