Biography

Pleasant Green Taylor was the son of William Taylor and Elizabeth Patrick.

Pleasant's parents moved from Kentucky to Missouri when he was a toddler, and converted to the Mormon faith. Due to their religion, they were forced to abandon their farm and relocate twice within the state of Missouri. Finally, they were forced to leave the state of Missouri when then-Governor Lilburn Boggs issued Missouri Executive Order 44, calling for the exile or extermination of all Mormons from the state.

The Taylor family ultimately settled in Utah, after briefly living in and driven out of Illinois for being Mormon. During their time in Illinois, Pleasant's father William passed away, and Pleasant and his brothers worked together to care for his mother and sisters.

He married 1st Clara Lake in 1847. They had eleven children.

He married 2nd Mary Eliza Shurtliff 1853. They had nine children.

He married 3rd Jane Shurtliff (sister of Mary Eliza) 1857. They had seven children.

He married 4th Sarah Jane (Marler) Lake (sister-in-law of Clara Lake, widow of Clara's brother William) in 1858. They had six children.

He passed away in 1917. His cause of death was listed as, "Uremia due to chronic nephritis". He's buried in Ogden City Cemetery, Ogden, Weber County, Utah, USA, Plot: D-5-12-1E
