Research Notes

  • It is not believed that this is the same Stephen Taylor as Stephen Taylor -b. 1608
  • Stephen Taylor's genealogy has been researched and published at the Suffield Historical Society's web site[16] and in the Payne-Joyce genealogy web site[17].
  • Stephen Taylor is briefly mentioned in the James Granger book, about page 48, 56.[18]
  • Stephen Taylor is briefly mentioned in the Frank C. Roe book, on p. 10 as the father of Thomas Taylor (no DOB). [19]

Windsor [20] has had many names over time:

1620 - 1635: Matianuck Plantations
1635 - 1637: Dorchester Plantation
1637 - 1638: Windsor Settlement
1638 - 1666: Windsor Settlement, Colony of Connecticut
1666 - 1788: Windsor Village, Hartford County, Colony of Connecticut
1788 - Present: Windsor, Hartford County, Connecticut, USA
In 1692, the Massachusetts Bay Colony was incorporated into the Province of Massachusetts Bay, of which parts eventually evolved into the State of Massachusetts (more or less).

Profile previously showed that his second wife, Elizabeth Newell, was the daughter of Thomas and Frances (Unknown) Newell. This has been disproven.

Would seem the second wife should be Elizabeth (_____) Nowell.

See George E. McCracken, "Robert Wilson of Farmington, Conn.," The American Genealogist, 52 (1976):76-85 at 76, 77; digital images by subscription, AmericanAncestors, at p. 77 for the marriage, 25 October 1649, of the widow Elizabeth Nowell to Stephen Taylor, and for Elizabeth's death 5 August 1689, citing "TAG:37:197-203" and mentioning other references.
