William Taylor was born in about 1821 in Bonchurch, Isle of Wight, Hampshire, England to William Taylor and Mary (Dyer) Taylor - he was baptised on 28 Jan 1821 in Bonchurch.[1]
In 1841 William Taylor (age 20-24) lived in Sandown Village, Brading, Isle of Wight with his father William (50-54), mother Mary (45-49), and brother George (7).[2]
William Taylor (son of William Taylor) married Charlotte Keene (daughter of Thomas Keene) on 19 Aug 1848 in Carisbrooke, Isle of Wight.[3] The marriage was registered in Isle of Wight in the third quarter of the year.[4]
In 1851 William Taylor (age 30, Tailor & Grocer) lived at Grange Place in Brading with his wife Charlotte (30, Stay Maker), daughter Kate (1), and mother-in-law Mary Kune [Keene] (67[~57], Stay Maker).[5]
In 1861 William Taylor (age 40, Grocer) lived at High Street in Brading with his wife Charlotte (40) and four children: Kate (11, Scholar), Mary (9, Scholar), Alfred (6, Scholar), and Frederick (3[~0]).[6]
In 1871 William Taylor (age 50, Grocer) lived in Sandown with his wife Charlotte (50), three children: Mary (19), Alfred (16), and John (6, Scholar), mother Mary Taylor (79), and mother-in-law Mary Keene (77).[7]
In 1881 William Taylor (age 60, Grocer) lived at High St in Brading with his wife Charlotte (60) and four children: Kate (31, Hd Teacher Pc Ef School), Mary H[K] (29), Alfred (26, Shopman (Grocers)), and John (16, Shopman (Grocers)).[8]
William Taylor passed away on 6 Aug 1888, aged 67 years. His death was registered in Isle of Wight in the third quarter of the year.[9] William Taylor of Pell Street was buried on 9 Aug 1888 at Christ Church, Sandown.[10]
"12 October. Administration of the Personal Estate of William Taylor late of Pell street Sandown in the Isle of Wight in the County of Southampton Gentleman a Widower who died 6 August 1888 at Pell-street was granted at Winchester to Alfred Taylor of High-street Sandown Grocer the Son and one of the Next of Kin. Personal Estate under £300."[11]
