Biography

William was a Friend (Quaker)

William married Margaret Finsham on May 1, 1665 at the Prestbury Parish in Cheshire, England. They became the parents of four known children all born in Cheshire, England
Mary, b. Nov. 30, 1667
Joseph, b. about 1670
Elizabeth, b. May 3, 1672
Mary, b. Apr. 26, 1674

William arrived in Pennsylvania on board The Friendship in August 1682. (According to Ashmead, the brothers immigrated on the Amity in 1682, settling in Delaware County Pennsylvania, in the area that is now Media Pennsylvania; however, William Taylor is on the passenger list of The Friendship that embarked from Liverpool and arrived in Philadelphia on 14 August 1682).

William Taylor and his brother Peter purchased 1250 acres in Chester County Pennsylvania directly from William Penn for £25 in 1681. They settled in Upper Providence across the road from Thomas Powell, Sr

Shortly after arriving in the New World, William Taylor and his wife Margaret died in 1683, within days of each other. William Taylor died on Mar. 6, 1683. His death is recorded at the Chester Monthly Meeting and at the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting.[1] Three children survived.

His will was probated at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Aug. 23, 1683.
