Various records and documents William is mentioned in (misspellings are deliberate based upon transcribing of the record):

  • 6 Feb 1769 - warrant by William Teague for survey by William Churton of 640 acres in Orange Co, joining Willm Vernon and (a point) near Timothy Terrel, being the place Tague lives on. Entered 20 (or 28) November 1758. Back of document reads "Grant 18 July 1760" (Miscellaneous Land Office Papers).
  • 26 May 1759 - Orange Co, NC. 942 Willm Teague [maybe this one] plat, 160 acres in Orange County on both sides of New Garden Road to Cape Fair, joining William Varnel and a Stone in a Glade (Miscellaneous Land Office Papers).
  • 21 Jul 1760 - Orange Co, NC. 943 William Teage granted 160 acres in Orange Co in the Parish of St Matthew on both sides of New Garden Road to Cape Fear, joining William Varnell and a Stone in a Glade (Patent Book 12, p48).

  • 1772, Chatham Co, NC. 280 Deed from William and Eleanor Teague to Edward Teague Sr (Chatham Co Deed book A, p100) [this pretty much places this William in Chatham Co prior to 1772, so increases chances that earlier William Teague land activity in Chatham Co was this William Teague. Need to examine this deed to see if it is the same land. If this deed says "of SC", then it also specifies their departure from Chatham Co.]
  • 1772 - Chatham Co, NC. Faye Teague Caynor reports that Chatham Co Deeds show in 1772, William Teague and his wife Eleanor of SC (could not make out county) appointed Edward Teague Sr. as their Power of Attorney. That's the only reference to Sr. found.

Recently a "hint" popped up on my ancestry tree for William. It is for Estate Records showing the sale of the Estate of William Teague who died in late 1800 or early 1801. One paper references "his widow" as of January 1801.

Here is the original link. I've said "maybe" it is for him so is sitting in my undecided hints until I have time to read through it. As you can imagine, the writing is difficult to decipher in some spots. https://www.ancestry.com/discoveryui-content/view/1577953:9061?tid=80255916&pid=42434604798&hid=1018725631074&_phsrc=lyg134415&_phstart=default
