When citing sources I try to give enough information that someone can find that source regardless of the method used to find it or reference an image in the photo section. Where there is a Wiki ID for a person named in this section try to provide a link to that person. List contributors, with links (if possible), in "Acknowledgments".
Using an asterisk before adding information will maintain the events in a bullet format. Double asterisk s will indent related events. A colon (:) will indent text (such as in this “Note” section). Double colons will double indent text. The first time you use a citation, use <ref name="nametag"> Descriptive Text</ref> where "nametag" is what you want to use for the name of the tag & "Descriptive Text" is your source citation. From then on use <ref name="nametag"/> to cite that citation as many times as needed. This will automatically add to the "Source List".
If you are adding information I would appreciate your following these guidelines. If you have any questions feel free to contact me. Gary H White
Biography
Lera F Tennison was born abt 1843 in Arkansas, USA.[1]
She passed away before 1900 as Jesse Calvin is shown as "widowed" in the 1900 Census. I not found any Death documentation at this time.
It has generally been accepted by my family that her husband's name was Calvin Joseph. However, the more I research the more I am convinced that his name was Calvin Jessie (or Jesse) or Jessie Calvin. All records I have found use either Calvin or Jessie C. The 1850 Census matches birth location & date and uses Jessie, 1860 uses Calvin. I found Calvin in the 1890 Civil War Soldiers Census in McLennan County. It shows he was in the Tenn. 4th Cavalry Co.K. In the National Archives there is a Jesse Shelton in the 4th Tenn Cavalry. The Texas Death Certificate, accepted by the family, shows Jessie C.
One of the problems I have is that the 1850 Census shows his parents as: Preston W Shelton & Matilda Shelton and not Calvin Shelton & Sally Flatt. His Death Certificate sheds no light as to his parents. There could also be the possibility that there are two Sheltons, one Calvin and the other Jessie C, and that I have got their data mixed.
If this is true, Lera may not be his spouse although, Walter John Shelton's Death Certificate lists her as his mother & Calvin as his father. It also shows her Maiden name as Tennessee, as does the 1870 Census.
