Corporal William Terwilliger served in the United States Civil War. Enlisted: Aug 13, 1862 Mustered out: Jun 27, 1865 Side: USA Regiment(s): 149th Pennsylvania Infantry
William was enrolled 13 Aug 1862 in Co. H, 149 PA Vols. He was captured 5 May 1864 and sent to Andersonville. He was paroled at N.E. Ferry, North Carolina 27 Feb 1865 and sent to Camp Distribution, Virginia 3 May 1865. He was discharged 27 June 1865 in Elmira, New York. He was a member of the National Association of Ex-Union Prisoners of War and the Andersonville Survivors' Association. He attended the dedication of the Pennsylvania Memorial at Andersonville on December 7, 1905.
He was a farmer, and lived in Strattonville, Clarion County, Pennsylvania. He and Mary had these children: Lawrence Grant, Orin Burton, William Taylor, Harry Willis, Kathryn Mae, Eva Belle, Bessie Irene.
