Biography

Matheus Terwilliger died young.

Matheus is presumed to have been born in Shawangunk, Ulster County, New York, where his family lived around the time of his birth. He was baptized April 18, 1697, by a domine of the Reformed Dutch Church in Kingston, New York, where he was recorded as the child of Jan Evertse and Sytje Jacobsen.[1] He died in infancy sometime before 30 October 1698, when a brother was baptized with the name Matheus. Research Notes

This profile stated "He died sometime later that year," referring to 1697. Lacking evidence for his death in 1697, I revised it to show that he died before the 1698 baptism of his brother of the same name. If evidence is found, that should be changed. Smith-62120 16:36, 24 November 2023 (UTC)

Since he died in infancy and his father was using a patronymic name at the time of his birth, his last name at birth (LNAB) is based on the LNABs of his siblings. Smith-62120 16:36, 24 November 2023 (UTC)
