George W Thacker was born in Wilkesville Township, Vinton County, Ohio, March 25, 1900, aged 58 years and 5 months. He was united in marriage to Margaret McKenzie, October 14, 1868, to which union was born eight children, three sons and five daughters, two daughters having preceded him to the spirit world. The deceased was a member of Co. "B" 1st Ohio Heavy Artillery in the Civil War, entering the service September 20, 1864, and was honorably discharged, June 3. 1865, on account of termination of war, and was a member of the Grand Army of the Republic since May 26 1885. He was a kind and loving father who never intentionally done a wrong to his fellow man and had no enemies. Peace to his ashes.
