I don't understand how all of her DNA matches are spelled Thames. On Ancestry her father is listed as Rev. David Thames (the elder). There is a marriage record for the Rev. David Thames and a Margaret Landcaster when they were both young. Many of his other children are listed as half-siblings. The closest sibling would be Lydia Thames. Her brother Jabez had a brother named John. Jabez and Cinthia/Cintha spoke of their brother Amos and the Alamo. She was born in Cumberland County, North Carolina. There are other tintypes in my family collection that look just like Cornelius Thames of Alabama. I would love to know more about this family and get my info correct. Thank you.

Karen, I think you should remove Cinthia as a daughter on this page. There are no records connecting her to this man, and he left records which record his kids, and none are Jabez, Cinthia, or Amos of the Alamo.

I will look for her actual father.

Best regards, Lilly Martin

Hi Karen. The marriage record for David Thames and Margaret Landcaster shows they married in 1847. That David was Rev. David's son. The marriage record was transcribed incorrectly as 1817 - if you zoom in on the marriage bond, you can see it's actually 1847. Here is a link to the image: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSZZ-W9D4-S?cc=1726957 When you look at the county register, it also shows 1847: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSZZ-X9C5-K?cc=1726957

I and other Thames researchers (there's a dedicated group of us here on WikiTree) are really interested to see the tintype of Cornelius Thames of Alabama. He has many descendants, and no one has ever seen a photograph of him. Can you upload a scan/pic of it to his page? We sure would appreciate the kindness. Thanks!

Also, do you have the source for Jabez and Cintha speaking about a brother Amos at the Alamo? How was that documented? Amos the son of Rev David was not at the Alamo, tho he did participate in the Siege of Bexar, which occurred before the battle at the Alamo. I don't find an Amos Thames or Amos Timms on the Alamo list of Defenders or Survivors:

Cinthia Timms was not a Thames, but Timms. They are two distinct families. Rev. David's children are well established by his estate records, and there was no Cinthia among them. Her 1850 census record shows she was born in TN; Rev David did not live in TN. She should be removed as his child.
