Thomas Tharp was born in Talbot, Maryland abt. 1744 of John Tharp and Elizabeth (Jordan) who in 1756 relocated their family to Kent Co., Delaware.
Thomas married in 1766 to Elizabeth Pegg in Kent Co., Delaware.[1][2]
In 1771 (May 16) land he bought in Kent Co., Delaware from Nathaniel Luff was acknowledged in Common Pleas Court.

Thomas relocated his family to Rowan, North Carolina between the birth of son Boaz in 1778 in Kent, Delaware and son Andrew in 1781 in North Carolina.
In Nov 1782 a Thomas Tharp joined the Military with the rank of Matross.

In the first US census (1790), Thomas was in Rowan, North Carolina with 5 children.

In 1800 there is a head-of-house, Thomas, in Johnston, North Carolina with 8 children and 10 slaves.

Thomas died in Rowan Co., North Carolina in 1804 according email 3/2017 from Peggy Dierking Tegowski, a descendant, "It appears that Thomas’ offspring left NC after his passing, may have been in VA for a short time, then went to Ohio and Indiana. My Charles Tharp ended up in Illinoios. "
Research Notes
Paternal relationship is confirmed through Y-chromosome DNA testing. Steven Tharp and his sixth cousin Maner Thorpe match on 24 out of 25 markers thereby confirming their direct paternal lines back to their MRCA John Tharp.
