Catherine was born on about 1780. She was the daughter of Ebenezer Thayer and Martha Olive (Cotton) Thayer. [1]
Jacob Abbot, clergyman, born in Wilton, N.H., Jan 7, 1768; graduated at Harvard College, 1792; ordained pastor of church in Hampton Falls, Aug 15, 1798, Rev. Jesse Appleton, of Hampton, giving the right hand of fellowship. His contract for salary was 200 silver dollars and the use of the parsonage. He married in Boston, Feb. 11, 1802, Catharine, daughter of Rev. Ebenezer Thayer (1). Though ' he discharged faithfully, affectionately and with acceptance the duties of the ministry," and was esteemed and beloved, a portion of the rise of other denominations. Mr. Abbot himself became a Unitarian. He was dismissed, Oct. 23, 1827, and removed to Windham, where he spent the remainder of his live. He was drowned by the upsetting of his boat, Nov 2, 1834, as he was returning from public worship across a pond between the meeting-house and his home. (Dow - p583)
Catherine married Jacob Abbot on 11 February 1802 in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts, USA. The couple had 11 children: Martha Thayer Abbot, Sarah White Abbot, Ebenezer Thayer Abbot, Catherine Abbot, Elizabeth Dorcas Abbot, George Jacob Abbot, Abigail Abbot, Phebe Abbot, Mary Ann Toppan Abbot, Lucy Eliot Abbot and Charles Eliot Abbot.[2][3]
Catherine died on 11 February 1802.
