DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Nathaniel by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Nathaniel:
I've restored the correct parents. There were several Nathaniel Thayers of this time period and its easy to get confused. There is a lot of misinformation out there!
But just a reminder that we share these ancestors with many people. Changing the parents on a profile is considered a significant change and should be discussed before on the profile or in g2g. Thanks!
Regarding the rejection of the unmerged match of thayer-302 and thayer-3630: the reason for the rejection is that the (assumed) intent of the profile thayer-3630 was originally to be the father of Anne (Thayer-2654) Horton. That is, Thayer-3630 was created (with data) and attached as Anne's father immediately after Anne's profile was created (see contributions of Lyle Kugler for 24 Sep 2016). Then the profile was de-tached from Anne's profile because the data appeared to be incorrect. That seems to be a backward approach. Information should document a person, rather than a person being changed to match data.
If a merge is to maintain a single wikitree profile for each person, the profile intended to be Anne's father shouldn't be merged with the person documented in this profile.
Removed marriage to Hayden-100. See Ellen's comment under Hayden-100 - 1) no reference, 2) Hannah Hayden (1660/1 - 1743) died "widow Thayer" so Nathaniel (apparently) did not remarry. Also, Sprague mentions Hannah Thayer "widow" was made administrator of his estate.
Didn't provide proper comment in the removal. Apologies.
Deleted (apparent) copyrighted material. If permission from NEHGS was previously obtained, suggest adding "reproduced with permission" or similar. Better safe than sorry.
I understand that the Thayer website may have been the source of the copy-and-paste, but, to the best of my knowledge, that doesn't imply permission to post on wikitree.
Looks like an incorrect spouse (Abigail Hayden) needs to be detached. She married a different Thayer. This Nathaniel appears to have had only one wife Hannah.
But just a reminder that we share these ancestors with many people. Changing the parents on a profile is considered a significant change and should be discussed before on the profile or in g2g. Thanks!
