Anthorit Therriott was born circa 1718, in Middlesex county, Virginia, a daughter of William and Joan Therrotte. [2]

In 1738, Anthorit married Peter Montague, born March 28, 1718 and baptized April 27, 1718, in Middlesex county, a son of Thomas Montague, Jr. Orange county, Virginia established here in 1734. Children of Anthorit and Peter are:

  • Sarah Montague, born January 29, 1739
  • Elizabeth Montague, born 1744, married James Daniel, died January 17, 1826, age 83.

Peter died in 1745 or the spring of 1746 and Anthorit Mountague was the administrator of her husband, Peter's estate. The division of Estate was made pursuant to order of 22 April 1756, a portion of which went to Captain Reuben Daniel, who married the deceased's widow. [3]

Anthorit and Reuben Daniel became the parents of at least one son:

  • Reuben Daniel, born before 1756, in Virginia

Antorit Daniel died circa 1756, in Virginia. [4]

Notes

Note N106On 23 September, 1756 and 28 September, 1756, Reuben Daniel, husband of Anthorit, was made guardian of Anthorit's daughter, Elizabeth Montague, and charged with the task of securing her estate. This would seem to indicate that Anthorit had died by this time.
Orange County probate records indicate that Reuben Daniel was the custodian of Anthorit's daughter, Elizabeth Montague from 1757 to abt Aug 23, 1759. (Vol 2, page 294 of the Orange Co, will books). Anthorit must have died before 1757; in fact, she may have already been deceased by Oct 26, 1756, when another settlement was made on the estate of Peter Montague. In that settlement, Reuben and Anthorit's two daughters were mentioned, but Anthorit herself was not.
OR
Anthorit lived for 2 or 3 more years (up to abt 1759). Lucy Daniel (b 1757?) could have been her daughter. This could be supported by the fact that Elizabeth Montague (daughter of Peter and Anthorit Montague) changed her guardian in Sep. 1759 from Reuben Daniel to Thomas Montague.

Therriott-7 and Therriott-5 appear to represent the same person because: same name, same spouse, same birth and death, same time frame and locations
