Note de recherches / research notes

Message sent to the profile manager: Hi Gaston,

I am Leo Thibault, 10th Generations from Michel and Jeanne, and I have been researching the family lineage (my branch) for years now, I have some great news for you.

Since the French have started to ôpen there departmental archives on line, people I am associated with and others have found the locations, and years of baptism for both Michel and Jeanne, while I personnally am going church to church in these records to find the marriage records, of which no luck so far.

I am satisfied (as are the professional genealogist in France), that we have the right records for Jeanne and Michel, of course this isn't a totally 100% thing until the marriage records are found. But here it is in general for you.

Michel Thibault was baptised on May 27th 1629 in the church of Notre Dame de Chasseigne, in the diocese of Poitiers in the department of Vienne, the son of Mathurin Thibault and Jeanne Christon, of that same town, and he had at least 2 brothers and a sister, that is as per what was found in the church's records.

As for Jeanne Sohier, well she was baptised on November 3rd 1639 in the church of St. Hillaire de Étriché, which is in the dioceses of Angers, Anjou Maine-Et-Loire.

Her parents were Etienne Sohier and Claude Paré of the same town, she has 7 brothers, that is according to the church records that I found on line in that church.

One small note, Jeanne and Michel also had two other girls, Marie jeanne thibault, born, November 4th 1674 died December 26th 1744 married to Guilliaume Fabas dit St. Germain on July 11 1703, there is also Anne Thibault, she was born on June 11 1670 and died before the 1681 census report, I currently have the Quebec national archives people checking for a place of burial and date for her.

A second small note. Michel and Jeanne's last farm was at 474 Chemin du Roi Cadastre 398, obtained as concession from Sieur Jean Juchereau Duchenay in 1679.

Respectfully yours. Leo W. G. Thibault. The sender, Leo Thibault (sothibaultatvideotron.ca), is not a WikiTree member.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Michel by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Michel:
