Houma Woman Leaves at Death 159 Descendants
...she leaves issue unto the fifth generation: fourteen children, seventy-six grandchildren; sixty-seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. All of her fourteen children are living, the eldest being 55 and the youngest 33 years old....she was on one of her regular visits to her large family in New Orleans when she died.
..Even in Southwest Louisiana where large families are the rule, rather than the exception, Mr. and Mrs. Champagne have set something of a record.[5]
