BRIGITTE BREAU VEUVE CHARLES THIBODEAU is on the Wall of Names at the Acadian Memorial in St. Martinville, Louisiana, on Plaque 6 Left. He is memorialized as the deceased husband of Brigitte Breau, who immigrated with their children Anne Nanette, Jean Anselme, and Marie Louise.[1]
During the Great Upheaval of the Acadians, he was imprisoned, along with his wife and three children, at Halifax. They were counted there upon their release at war's end on 2 August 1763, at Halifax, Acadia.[3]
He died after August 1763,[2]
and was buried, two years later, on 5 August 1765.[citation needed]
Research Notes
This profile was in the "Needs Formatting" category; doing so uncovered a few problems:
It states that he was at Halifax, and the third citation has text possibly to that effect, but no source name.
White apparently only lists 6 children, not 8. Here are two daughters, both born in 1761, "Madeleine" in Acadie -- who was not listed with the others on the Wall of Names-- and Marie Louise who is, but was born in Boston. Both have fact statements that, if true, should be explained.
Death and burial statements were conflicting, and both seem unsourced. Changed DOD in bio to after the 1763 date he was supposedly at Halifax. Burial date must have come from somewhere, or did someone guess?
