Biography

Mathurin Thibaudeau and his wife Marie Dolbeau are cited as both deceased on the second marriage of their son Mathurin in July 1686.

That is the only data available for the couple currently.

Miscellaneous prior data

Mathurin Thibodeau was born in Martaize, France, around 1594.[citation needed]

He married Marie Debeau in France in 1620.[citation needed]

He maried Marie Dolbeau/Debeau in France around 1630. [citation needed]

He died 14 Sept 1687, at the age of 82.[citation needed]

NOTE: It is thought that Mathurin Thibodeau and Marie Dolbeau might be the parents of Pierre Thibodeau of Acadia. This has never been proven.

Note: The below bio seems to be confusing two separate families. See the Nos Origines pages for the two families here and here. I'm leaving this here for now until we're sure it's all sorted out.

Thibodeau-134 and Thibodeau-37 appear to represent the same person because: Appear to be duplicates

Looking at PRDH, I see no actual evidence that Mathurin Thibodeau, husband of Marie Dolbeau ever came to Québec.

I could be missing it, but I don't see the proof that Thibodeau-37 is the son of Thibodeau-134 and Marie Miet. On the otherhand, Thibaudeau-350 is, according to Fichier, the son of Thibodeau-134 and Marie Miet.

We should disconnect the parents from Thibodeau-37 and make a clear statement in the bio of the conflict.

Whoa!!! In the sources here it says he married firstly Marie Dolbeau/Debeau in France around 1630, then he married Marie Petit, in Canada between 1660 and 1680.

PRDH stated quite clearly, that Mathurin who married Marie Petit is the son of Mathurin Thibodeau and Marie Dolbeau.

The Mathurin who married Marie Roy is also the son of Mathurin Thibodeau and Marie Dolbeau.

I really think we need to disconnect parents for some of these. Thibaudeau-14 is clearly the son of Thibaudeau-37 and Marie Dolbeau/Debeau. But there seems to be no proof that Pierre (Thobodeau-30) is the son of Thibaudeau-37. I propose that we disconnect him and say in the bio that he might be the son of, but there is no proof.

I have researched this line, and have found my connection as follows:

1. Mathuren Thibodeau-37 (abt. 1594-1685) - my 10th GG 2. Marie (Debeau) Dolbeau-2 (1603-1631) - my 9th? GG Pierre Thibodeau-30 (1631-1704) - my 8 GG

I can confirm Pierre Thibodeau for sure as a direct maternal ancestor; many of the names in his long biography are familiar names and have also been shown to be ancestors through DNA tests on Ancestry and 23andMe.

I cannot figure out why my 10th GG and 9th GM seem to 'skip' a generation. as they are the parents of Pierre? I will need to do a bit more digging.

Does anyone know where the birth and marriage info on this profile came from? Martaize, Vienne. Poitou, is some 60 miles from Moutiers-Les-Mauxfaits where the son Mathurin is supposed to be born.

Hmm, just been though the two Mathurin Thibodeau who came to the colony, the one who is son of Mathurin and Marie Miet is this one: http://www.fichierorigine.com/recherche?nom=thibodeau&commune=&pays=&mariagerech=

He came with his wife Catherine Avrard. the Mathurin who went to île d'Orléans came later, and his parents were Mathurin and Marie Dolbeau. Sorry folks, this thing needs sorting out. île d'Orléans boy married twice, and his parents did not come to the colony.

So the primary "Source" for this Project Protected Profile is a Ancestry.com public tree? I see on the bottom that Tanguay's book is referenced, but it is a source for what info exactly? That Mathurin was married in 1677 at Quebec? Looks like that would be his son's marriage to Marie Roy right?

I have found NO proof for parents of this profile. I think it is wrong and it is the problem we have with this family.
