Biography

Ethel Madeline Thompson was born on 18 Aug 1898 at 729 South Main Street, Wanamie, Luzerne, Pennsylvania.^[1][2] She was the youngest of twelve children born to Mary Elizabeth Jackson and John Joseph Thompson Jr. She was baptized at the Salem Evangelical United Brethren Church on Grove Street in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne, Pennsylvania.

Ethel married George Dobson Kline on 25 Apr 1917 in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne, Pennsylvania, at the parsonage of the church where she was baptized.^[3] The couple had four children:

1. Glen Thompson Kline
2. Roberta Dora Kline
3. Merle George Kline
4. June Ruth Kline

George died in 1928 when their children were very young, so Ethel and her three children moved in with her parents. Ethel's mother died two years later in 1930, and she took care of her father for the next ten years. On 28 May 1941, One week after her father died, she married Fred Sorber in Wilkes-Barre.^[4]

Ethel Sorber died 1 Nov 1985 at Cedarbrook County Home in South Whitehall Township, Lehigh, Pennsylvania.^[5][6][7][8] She was buried on 4 Nov 1985 next to her first husband, in Oaklawn Cemetery, Hanover Township, Luzerne, Pennsylvania.^{[9][5][7][8][10]}
