Biography

Early Years - Lena Thomspon was born 1877 in Eddyville, Lyon County, Kentucky, the daughter of Martha Hamilton Thompson and John Thompson. In the year 1896, at the age of 17, Lena gave birth out of wedlock to Martha Frances (Cherry). On the 1900 Paducah, Kentucky Census, Martha Frances was listed as the four year old daughter of Lena's mother, the widow Martha Thompson. Lena was working as a seamstress.

Middle Years - By 1910, Lena was married to Will White from Ohio and had a six year old daughter named Flora. They were living in Paducah, Kentucky. Martha Frances then 13 years of age was living in the household as the step daughter of Will White.

Later Years - In early 1920, Lena and her husband, Will White, re living in East St.Louis, St. Clair County, Illinois. Her mother, Martha, now age 72, is also living with them. Lena died that year on February 7, 1920. She was only 45 years old. She was buried two days later at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Belleville, Illinois.
