There is little doubt that Naomi's maiden name was Thompson. Her son John Gillespie named one of his daughters Naomi Thompson Gillespie and her grandson Thomas L. Gillespie, son of George Gillespie, named one of his daughters Naomi Thompson Gillespie. It is doubtful they would have done this had it not been her name. Nothing has been learned as to the identity of her parents.[2]
