Zachariah was the son of Joseph Thompson and Mary Jolly.[1]
He was living in Pendleton District, South Carolina on 26 Mar 1821 when his brother, Joseph Thompson of Pendleton District sold to George Owens of same place, 100 acres on Twenty-six mile Creek waters of the Savannah River bordering William Golden, Vinson Sims, David Pitman, James McCoy and Jacob Martin. Witnessed by Z. Thompson and John Hunnicutt; witness oath 26 Mar 1821 by Z. Thompson. Deed recorded in Deed Book S p329 on 14 Dec 1828.[2]
He was in Carroll County, Georgia by 1830 when he purchased property from his brother Joseph in Gwinnett County.[3] This same lot had been sold to Joseph 21 Aug 1829, while he was still living in Pendleton district, South Carolina.[4]
On 22 Jan 1831 Charles Norman for $50 sold to Zachariah Thompson the south part of a conditional line dividing land lot # 205 in the 8th district of Carroll (now Haralson) County, Georgia containing 100 acres more or less. Attested by Waddy Thompson and Mary Thompson, Carroll County, 09 Apr 1832.[5]
On 07 Mar 1833 Harrel Felton of Carroll County, Georgia sold to Robert Thompson of same county for the amount of a judgement obtained against said Felton in favor of John James at Hall Superior Court March Term 1827 which now amounts to $1878, for two lots of land numbers 125 and 156 in the 8th district of Carroll County containing 405 acres. Signed by Harrel Felton (his mark). Wittnessed by William Thompson, Zachariah Thompson. On 30 Jun 1834 Zachariah gave oath that he witnessed Harrel Felton sign the above deed and that William Thompson was a witness. Oath signed by Zachariah and by Ransom Thompson, JP.[6]
And on 04 Apr 1833 Zachariah Thompson and Randsom Thompson, JP attested a deed of Thomas Pullen to William Bailey in Carroll County, Georgia.[7]
On 01 Mar 1836 Zachariah Thompson and Ransom Thompson attested a deed wherein Robert Thompson of Carroll County, Georgia dold to John Hunnicutt for $500 lot #156 in the 8th district of Caroll County (now Haralson) containing 202 1/2 acres.[8]
On 10 Mar 1836 Zachariah Thompson and his brother Ransom witnessed a deed of Robert J. Chandler to Charles Sides, Carroll County, Georgia. [9]
On 30 Oct 1838 Zachariah Thompson sold to Davy Taylor of Butts County for $1400, lot #204, ½ of lot #205 and ¼ of lot #172 where Sizemore now lives, totaling 350 acres, 8th district, Carroll County, (now Haralson) County, Georgia. [10][11]
Zachariah is listed in 1842 in the 8th district of Carroll County, Georgia tax list.[12]
By 1850 Zachariah has moved his family west to Jasper County, Mississippi.[13]
