Hello,

Congratulations, you've been a WikiTree member for a month! We're glad you're here. A few tips to help you dive in even deeper:

Check out Beyond the Basics of WikiTree for a guide on some of our more advanced features such as Projects, Categories, and Merging.

We're very active on our social sites and we have an excellent blog where you'll find our monthly newsletter as well as tips, interviews with our members and guest posts from others in the genealogy community.

As always, I'm here to help if you have any questions!

Guy ~ WikiTree Mentor

Hi ,

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Guy ~ WikiTree Mentor

Welcome! We are so glad you are here! Please let me know if you are interested in joining our WikiTree DNA Project: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:DNA or our FamilyTreeDNA.com public page at https://www.familytreedna.com/groups/wiki-tree/about

Please set your preferences for your Tags Followed to include DNA on the GenealogistToGenealogist (G2G) feed: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:Following

If you are adding any DNA tests to profiles on WikiTree, please be sure to add the tests to the actual test participant's profile, and that the Privacy is set to show the participant's Family Tree tab.

Welcome

Interesting with your DNA tests please let me know if you need support in the DNA research. Wikitree is I think one of the best places to work together with the DNA research.

Problem is that we need to get everyone else to understand that

Hello,

Thank you for signing the Honor code. Collaboration, accurate information and good sources are the basis for a great WikiTree.

By signing the Honor Code you're telling others you are a responsible Wiki genealogist.

Feel free to ask me via my profile page if you have any questions.

Have a nice journey on Wikitree,

Guy - Wikitree Mentor / Leader

You are now a member of the WikiTree Community. Please note we are trying to build one Collaborative Tree which means one profile per person. It is important to ensure

no duplicates are entered as you add Profiles to WikiTree - if you have pre-1700's ancestors to add please [http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Pre-1700_Profiles read our

Pre-1700 profiles info].

If you need any help getting started check out the help section from the menu, top right, or head over to the forum and take a minute to introduce yourself in the Tree House. You might also want to check out the introductory WikiTree video that a member created.

We also have Mentors to help too.

Started DNA in 2014 w/FTDNA. Completed Y-DNA 67 STR. Confirmed R1b-Z253+BY325+ with YSEQ. mtDNA H, H1-FTDNA. atDNA (Autosomal)-AncestryDNA just completed in late 2015.

Interest in confirming my Y-DNA line beyond Nero Morgan Thompson 17-94-1866. Family paper trail on generation beyond to John W. Thompson. Beyond that there is no confirmation on his parents. Both Ancestry & Family Search have conflicting info. My maternal line appears to be in line with the paper and ancestry lines based on the autosomal results. Both paternal & maternal primarily follow the Appalachian Migration Patterns into MO & KS.

I noticed you uploaded a GEDCOM. Here's a link to great instructions on adding a GEDCOM to WikiTree that you might find helpful.

If you have any brick walls, collaboration might help bust through. Because WikiTree has only one profile for each person, the further back you go in your ancestry, the more likely cousins will find you and help out. ANY Wiki Genealogist can edit "Open" profiles (over 200 years old = open). There's also a brickwall tag in the G2G forum: brickwall

The help pages give lots of information about the process, best to start with 'Before you import a GEDCOM'.

Hi Jerrell!

Welcome as a guest to WikiTree! We're growing a FREE worldwide family tree, striving for ONE collaborative profile for every person.

A couple suggestions to get you started:

1. Feel free to ask a question at our G2G forum .

2. Our help pages, top right, have all sorts of useful information.

If you would like to contribute, click the volunteer button and leave a comment here on your profile to let our greeters know. You should include a little bit about how you plan to contribute to the tree.

Good luck growing your branches, and thanks for offering to help with our shared tree :)

Lee, Wikitree Greeter
