Grace Iowa Haynes, daughter of Daniel and Margaret Church, was born July 10, 1870, at Danville, Iowa, and died at her home in Des Moines on Sept. 20, 1947, at the age of 77 years 2 months and 10 days.
Mrs. Haynes moved at an early age, with her parents, to Taylor county, Iowa, where she has lived for most of her life. She was married to Cester E. Haynes, April 9, 1891, living at Conway, Corning, Nevinsville (sic) & Clearfield, Iowa, where they lived the last 8 years, and where Mr. Haynes died in 1941.
Mrs. Haynes maintained her home in Clearfield until a month ago, when because of health, she disposed of her home and went to live with a niece, Miss Grace Thompson, DM, Iowa.
She was always very active in all community interests, being a member of Clearfield Christian Church, Order of the Eastern Star, The White Cross, Spanish War Veterans Auxiliary and the Royal Neighbors Lodge.
She leaves to mourn her passing; two foster daughters, Mrs. Gloe O'Dell, of Lebanon, Mo., and Mrs. Verna Lau, of Omaha, Nebraska. One step-brother, Bert Wilson, of California; one step-sister, Mrs. Etta Carter of Penn., besides nieces, nephews and a host of friends. [1]
