James Glendinning Thomson (“J. Glen”) is born on March 26, 1907, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada [1][2][3]. His parents are Oliver Thomson (1867-1942) and Bertha Florence Swallow (1874-1959). In the 1911 census records, James is four-years old, living with his family at 209 Westmorland Avenue, in Toronto [4]. Westmoreland is between Bloor Street and Dupont, just west of Ossington. In the 1921 census records, the family has now moved to 1980 Queen Street in Toronto. This is on the boarder of the Parkdale district, quite close to High Park.

On October 14, 1946, James marries Mary Eleanor Shipp (1921-2006) in Toronto [3]. They have three children:

• James Edwin Oliver Thomson + Carolyn Anne Rowe

• Mary Catherine Thomson + Arthur Hamilton Parks

• Nancy Eleanor Thomson

James dies on January 8, 2002 and is buried in the St Andrew’s Presbyterian church cemetery in (what used to be) the village of Bendale in Scarborough (now a part of Toronto) [6]. Mary dies in 2006 and is buried with him.
