Rev. Charles Edward Thomson, M.A., was an Anglican clergyman. At his death, he was the rector of St. Mark's Church in west Toronto. He is buried in St. James' Cemetery, Toronto.[1]
Charles was the son of Hugh Thomson, M.P.P. for Frontenac and publisher of the Upper Canada Herald. He was educated at Upper Canada College and Trinity University.
As a clergyman, his principal pastorates were Elora, where he spent twenty years; [2] Hamilton, Weston and Toronto Junction, where he was pastor of St. Mark's Church for several years prior to his death.
The Rev. Mr. Thomson married Margaret Geddes, born at Elora; their children included:
Adelaide Elizabeth Thomson, m. Rev. E. W. Pickford, of Norwood;
Charles T. Thomson, a painter, of Toronto Junction ;
Henry H. Thomson, manager of the Molsons Bank, Ridgetown ;
Charlotte Margaret Thomson, m. A. P. Brown, of Manitoba;
W. Colborne Thomson; and
Kennett G. Thomson, a druggist of Norwood, Manitoba.
