Biography

Mary Ann Thomson was born about 1837 in Aberlemno, Forfarshire, Scotland, daughter of John Thomson and Margaret (Steele) Thomson.

In the 1851 census Mary (age 15), Mill Worker Flax, was the daughter of John Thomson in Meikle Mill, Brechin, Angus.^[1]

Mary had children with William Black - they did not marry. Their children were:

1. Mary Ann Black Thomson
2. Jane Black.

In the 1861 census Mary (age 24), Farm Winder, was the boarder of Ann Hill at 77 River Street, Brechin Burgh, Angus.^[2]

Mary married Thomas Guthrie on 16 Dec 1864 in Brechin, Angus, Scotland. ^[3]

Their children were:

1. Margaret (Guthrie) Dundas
2. Thomas Guthrie
3. John Thomson Guthrie.

In the 1871 census Mary (age 35), Linen Factory Worker, was the wife of James Gustine at 12 Bridge St, Brechin Burgh, Angus.^[4]

Mary died on 23 Jan 1876 in Brechin aged ~38.^[5]
