David Thomson was born in Scotland about 1870. He worked for thirty years at the Glasgow and South Western Railway Company.
David immigrated to Australia in 1913 with his wife Mary, and daughter Marjory, residing briefly with his brother James in Kingaroy, Queensland.
He purchased a newsagency in Brisbane, Queensland (possibly near Clarence Corner, a busy intersection in the suburb of Woolloongabba in Brisbane) which he ran for nine years. He sold this business and moved to Beaudesert, Queensland, purchasing the Beaudesert Newsagency which they ran until poor health necessitated that the business be sold in 1932.
David remained in poor health until his death on 15 Jan 1938, and was cremated at Mount Thompson Crematorium two days later. His remains were returned to Beaudesert Cemetery.
