Biography
James was born on 21 November 1814 in Muirkirk, Ayrshire, Scotland. He was the son of James Thorburn and Susannah (Johnston) Thorburn.[1]
Marriage: James Thorburn married Ellen McSkimming (1813–1893) on 3 Oct 1840 at Barr, Ayrshire, Scotland
James and his wife Ellen arrived as bounty immigrants on the Argyle, arriving on 1 March 1841 at Port Phillip Bay, Victoria, Australia.[2]
James died on 7 March 1855 in New South Wales, Australia.[3][4][5]
He was buried in Rookwood Cemetery.[6]
