Biography

William Thorn was born in 1848 J Quarter in HINCKLEY District, Leicestershire. ^[1][2]

In 1851, William Thorne (age 3 years, born in Hinckley, Leicestershire) was in the house of his father, Thomas Thorne (27, head married, framework knitter, born in Hinckley, Leicestershire) and mother, Phoebe Thorne (24, married, born in Hinckley) in North Gate Street, All Saints, Leicester, along with the couple's other children, Frederick Thorne (4, born in Hinckley) and Ann Thorne (1, born in Leicester). ^[3]

In 1861, William Thorn (13, scholar, born in Hinckley, Leicestershire) was in the Leicester Union Workhouse, Leicester St Margaret, Leicestershire, England, United Kingdom ^[4]

William Thorne (bachelor age 29, a trimmer) of Sanvey Gate, son of Thomas Thorn, married Emma Vaughan (spinster age 20) daughter of John Vaughan, on 20 May 1877 at Saint Margaret, Leicester. John White and Mary White were witnesses. Giles J Pilcher, Curate, conducted the marriage. ^[5][6]

In 1891, William Thorn (42, head, married, Fishmonger, born in Hinckley, Leicestershire) was living in Sanvey Gate, Leicester, with his wife, Emma Thorn (32, born in Leicester) and their children, Kate (10, scholar, born in Leicester) and Sarah (12, scholar, born in Leicester). There was also a lodger, John White (widower age 33, a wool dyer, born in Leicester). ^[7]
