William her spouse is listed as brother in law to the Thorn brothers, Tobias, Henry and Lazarus.[1]
Married Elizbth Thorne daughter of Peter and Elizabeth Thorne, in Hampshire County in 1758. In April of 1758, William, along with brother Abel, joined with Tobias Decker to establish the Decker Colony at Decker Creek near present Morgantown, West Virginia. The colony was attacked by thirty Delaware Indians on October 16, 1759, and eight people killed. According to the Deckers Creek Massacre essay presented by Ron & Sue Wall's Family History Site there were two possible outcomes for Elizabeth. One that she was one of those killed or that she was in another area and survived the massacre.(Dodge-4214 20:11, 17 February 2023 (UTC))
Since the children of Elizabeth and her husband William (Wilhelmus) Westfall (Westphal) were born starting in 1760 through 1783, it appears that she did not die in the massacre. See William's FindAGrave memorial for more information.[2] (Dodge-4214 20:11, 17 February 2023 (UTC))
