Ellen was the daughter and heir of Roger de Thornton, and his wife, the daughter and heir of William de Leghton.[1]
William, Ellen's maternal grandfather, together with John Riseings, held Leighton of the barons of Montalt in 6 Edward II [8 July 132-7 July 1313].[1] Leighton was in Wirral hundred in Cheshire, England.
Ellen married Richard del Hogh, and brought the manors of Thornton Mayewe and Leghton to her husband.[1]
In 27 Edward III [1353], Richard del Hogh and Ellen, in her right, claimed a weir in the Dee at Leghton and one in the Mersey at Netherbebyngton, and the right to make weirs in their own soil in Pulton in Walley.[1]
