Biography

Catherine Thériot was born in 1674 in Port-Royal, Acadie, Nouvelle-France. Her parents were Germain Thériot and Andrée Brun.[1]

In 1686, at Port-Royal, Catherine, aged 12, was living with her stepfather Emanuel [sic] HEBERT, aged 30, and her mother Andree BRUN, aged 40, and five half-siblings: Guillaume, aged 6, Marguerite, aged 5, Jean, aged 3, Jacque,s aged 2 and a 1-month-old baby not baptized. Also living with them were her two brothers, children of her mother's former marriage with Germain TERRIOT [sic]: Germain, agde 18, and Pierre, aged 15. The family owned 1 gun and was living on 4 arpents of cultivable land with 14 cattle, 21 sheep and 8 hogs.[1]

As the oldest daughter from her mother's first marriage, and five significantly younger siblings, Catherine probably had much to do around the home to help her mother.

Catherine (23) married Martin Aucoin (23) (born about 1674 in Port-Royal, Acadie, Nouvelle-France; son of Martin Aucoin and Marie Gaudet) in 1698 in St-Charles-des-Mines, Grand-Pré, Acadie.[2] Their known children were:

  1. Martin Aucoin (1700–aft. 1752) .
  2. Marie Claire Aucoin (abt. 1702–abt. 1755) .
  3. Anne Aucoin (abt. 1706–abt. 1759) .
  4. Angélique Aucoin (1708–abt. 1756) .
  5. Cecile Aucoin (1709–1756) .
  6. Marguerite Aucoin (abt. 1710– ) .
  7. Paul Aucoin (1712–abt. 1774) .
  8. Pierre Aucoin (abt. 1714–abt. 1762)

Both Martin and Catherine were alive as of 11/12/1725 when their daughter Marie Claire was married.[3] Skipping ahead, they were both alive at the marriage of Angelique (who was 37 when she married 21 year old Pierre Duon).[4]
