She died, at the age of about 45, in 1850 in Alabama.
Research Notes
Peggy Tidwell was born 1805 in Blount, Alabama, United States. Her father was John B. Tidwell and her uncle was Josiah Tidwell. They were the sons of Edmund Tidwell Sr. and grandsons of Richard Tidwell III. John B. and Josiah were first cousins with Robert Tidwell Jr. who was the son of Robert Tidwell, Sr. and the grandson of Richard Tidwell III. In 1850 Josiah Tidwell was living next to Blake Tidwell and his family. Blake was the son of Robert Tidwell Jr. who had died in 1845. Robert Jr.'s son Richard was living next to Richard McClung in 1850. Richard McClung's daughter Aramissa was living with Blake Tidwell.[2]
Peggy Tidwells name may have been Margaret, but all I have seen her listed as is Peggy. The children of John B. Tidwell have her as Peggy, as does the Marriage record. And family legend has her as Peggy.
From Researcher: Barbara L. Van Norsdall a descendant of Richard McClung:[3]
"Richard McClung married Peggy Tidwell, 12 Jan 1825 in Blount County, Alabama. She was the daughter of John B.Tidwell and Jane. Richard was 34 and Peggy was about 20. She was married by the Justice of the Peace. The surety was provided by or the marriage was performed by Josiah Tidwell, her uncle. Josiah was a brother to John B. Tidwell, Peggy's father. Richard Tidwell, living next to Richard McClung and his wife Elizabeth in 1850, was a son of Robert Tidwell. I believe Robert was a second cousin of Peggy's. Peggy Tidwell McClung died probably between 1842 and 1846. Richard and Peggy had at least three to five children, but probably many more".
"My cousin, Virginia Lee Hampton Rotert, of Fort Smith, Arkansas contacted Jimmy Wayne McClung a couple of times. I have her research notes. I have contacted the wife of another cousin, Yvette Jacobson McClung of California. She is married to Donan McClung."
