Joseph Tilden was born April 20, 1615 in Tenterden, Kent, England and died June 3, 1670 in Scituate, Plymouth Colony, Ma. He married Elizabeth Alice Twisden Nov. 20, 1649,[1][2] daughter of John Twisden. She was born March 31, 1633 in Tenterden, County of Kent, England and died 1694 in Scituate, Plymouth, Ma. Joseph was a deacon.

His will is dated 5 July 1670 in Scituate. He mentions his wife Elizabeth 100 pounds, named their children Nathaniel, John, Stephen, Samuel, Benjamin to have lands already deed to them, daughter Elizabeth 10 pounds, named other daughters Rebecca and Lydia. He also named his sister Lydia Garrett 5 pounds. His inventory was taken on the last day of May 1670.[5][6]
