General Notes: "James Cawfield Tillery served as a seaman in World War I aboard a troop carrier, the
USS Von Steuben, and made some nine crossings. In World War II he served in CBMU#510. He left
California on April 13, 1943, and served until the end of the war in the Aleutions -- said to be a battle line
one thousand miles long. He designed and built an altar to be used by all faiths at his base. He now lives
in Owl Creek, near Bear, Arkansas, and is active in church and civic affairs." (from the writings of Mrs.
