Children of Amos and Lucy (Lee) Tinker

1. Joseph, born at Lyme, Nov. 5, 1717. Nothing more is known of him, and he probably died young.
2. Amos, who wa our fourth American ancestor in the direct line. He was born at Lyme, Conn., Feb. 17, 1719-20, and died at the same place, Nov. 9, 1802, in the 83rd year of his age. He was married at Lyme on the 7th of Jan., 1741-2, to Hannah Minor, who died at Lyme on the 11th of April, 1790, in her 69th year.
3. Lydia, born at Lyme, Nov. 5, 1723, and was married in the same place to Robert Lay, on Feb. 1, 1738-9.
4. Lucy, born at Lyme, Feb. 9, 1725. Little is known of her except that she joined the church in 1741, at which time she was unmarried.
5. Benjamin, born at Lyme, May 6, 1728. He was living at Waterbury, Conn., in 1771.
6. Sylvanus, born at Lyme, Dec. 9, 1730, and died at East Haddam, Conn., Oct. 13, 1815, in his 85th year. His wife was Abigail Olmsted, whom he married in 1755. His second wife was Mrs. Wealthy Gilbert, who he married in 1781. The wife of President Day of Yale College, was a descendant of Sylvanus.
7. Parthenia, born Nov., 25, 1732, and was married April 13, 1758, to Joseph Chadwick.
8. Phinehas, born Feb. 6, 1734-5; and was married to Charity Marshall at East Haddam, Conn., Nov. 24, 1761.
9. Eunice, born at Lyme, March 31, 1737, and was married in the same place, to William Rowland, Aug. 1, 1764.
10. Martin, who was born June 28, 1739, and died at Westfield, Mass., Dec. 20, 1811, in his 73rd year. He was married at Lyme, Nov. 2, 1769, to Mary Peck, daughter of John and Catherine (Lay) Peck. The Rev. Wm. II. Slocum, President of Colorado College, Colorado Springs, was a descendant of Martin. Mr. Slocum’s mother’s name was Margaret Tinker.
11. Jehiel, born at Lyme, November 11, 1741, and died before 1799. He married Temperance _____.
12. Betty, born at Lyme, February 4, 1744-5. Nothing further is known of her.[1]
