John de Tibetot, Knt., 2nd Lord Tibetot, was born 20 July 1313, the son and heir of Pain de Tibetot (or Tybotot), Knt., 1st Lord Tibetot, and his wife Agnes de Roos.[1][2][3]
John's surname is found with several different spellings, being recorded as: Tibetot (used by Richardson),[1][2] Tiptoft,[4] Tybotot,[3] Tybetot, Tiptot, and Typtot.
Titles: 2nd Lord Tibetot, Governor of Berwick Castle, Chancellor of Berwick[1]
His father died in June 1314. He was given seizin of his lands on 21 September 1334.[1][2][3]
He was summoned to Parliament from 1 April 1335 to 20 January 1365/6,[1] and to Councils from 21 June 1337 to 10 February 1361/2.[3]
Marriages and Children
John married first before 24 July 1337 to Margaret de Badlesmere,[2] 4th daughter of Sir Bartholomew de Badlesmere, 1st Lord Badlesmere, and Margaret de Clare.[1][3] They had two children:
John,[2] died young.[1] He was born 1338 and died without issue before 8 October 1359.[3]
Robert, Knt., 3rd Lord Tibetot,[2] was baptized at Nettlestead, Suffolk 11 June 1341. He married Margaret Deincourt and had three daughters. Robert died 13 April 1372.[1][3]
Margaret died between 3 December 1344 and 4 December 1347.[1][3] John married second, before 15 June 1348, to Elizabeth Aspall,[2] widow of John[?] de Waunton, Knt., and daughter of Sir Robert Aspall and Alice de Cressingham.[1][3] They had one son:
Pain, Knt., married Agnes Wroth[1] and had children; knighted before March 1387.[4]
Death
Sir John de Tibetot, 2nd Lord Tibetot, died 6 (or 13) April 1367[2][3] and his widow, Elizabeth, died in 1390.[1]
