Biography

Born ABT 1758. [1]

Event: 2nd Lieutenant of 12th Virginia Regiment. Military 1776[2] Captain in VA regiment in Clark's expedition. Military[3]

That it appears, from the petition, that Abraham Tipton entered the service of the United States, in the fall of 1776, as a Lieutenant, under Captain Jonathan Langdon, in the continental line of Virginia, and attached to the 12th regiment; and he served nearly two years in that regiment - was in the battles of Germantown and Brandywine - and then resigned; that, not long thereafter, he entered the service again as a Captain, in the regiment commanded by Colonel Crockett - was marched to the falls of Ohio, and was killed in battle on the 2d September, 1781.... and left neither widow nor child.[4]

Died ABT 1781. Note: Killed near present-day Louisville, KY while serving with George Rogers Clark.[5][6]
