Biography

Bertha was born in 1906. She was the daughter of Myron Tipton and Cora Shields. She passed away in 2005. Bertha grew up on a farm near Marysville, Union County, OH. She attended a one room school there. She married at age 19 and lived for a few years in Cleveland on the West Side with her husband Lawrence. They moved to Erie, PA before returning to central Ohio. Her husband managed shoe stores and later a pharmacy in Columbus, OH. Bertha worked as a clerk in several retail stores. They did not have children. She was also a resident of Sunbury, Delaware County, Ohio and moved to Centerburg, Knox County, Ohio in 1974. She retired as the manager from Stark Altmeier Shoe Store in Columbus, Ohio. She was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Sunbury when she lived there. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
