Biography
James Tisdale was born about 1644 in Duxbury, Plymouth Colony. He is the son of John Tisdale and Sarah Walker.[1]
James moved to Taunton before December 6, 1653, with his parents and siblings.[2]
James married Mary Avery on November 5, 1666, probably in Taunton. They had six children together.[1]
Family
Children born to Mary and James Tisdale in Dedham, Massachusetts:
- Mercy Tisdell, b. 16 May 1676[3]
He was one of the original six purchasers of Assonet Neck in 1680, when the land was seized from the natives as payment of debt for the Indian Wars.[4]
James Tisdale died January 15, 1715, probably in Assonet Neck, then in Dighton.[1] He is buried in Fox Cemetery, Berkley, Bristol, Massachusetts.[5]
